LADY DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, 1961-1997

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring on the coffin, let the mourners come.
    Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message She Is Dead,
Put cute bows round the white necks of the public droves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
She was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
    My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought love would last forever: I was wrong.
    The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
    Pack up the moons and dismantle the sun;
    Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
    W. H. Auden
(On behalf of the international Gay Community)

As I watched the news of your death,
I realized that I was contributing to the cycle that caused it.
Before you died, I wanted to know you.
I thought you had such a nice life,
and I enjoyed watching how you lived.
Please forgive me, I was wrong
Its not for me to know how your life was,
that was something for you... not me.
    I was selfish. I watched, I listened,
I picked up the magazine off the shelf
    that had your picture......
    I wanted to know.....
    But I was wrong
Your life had great meaning to me,
your happiness was important to me.
Please believe me, I never wanted you to suffer.
    I will miss you
Yet, as everyone became interested in your life,
it increased whatever pain you experienced.
I am sorry, I did not understand,
until I saw the news, about your death,
how badly we had treated you.
    We were wrong
Because you were beautiful, gracious and kind,
everybody wanted to know you more.
In every way, you set examples for those around you.
    We didn't listen.
Even in pain, you were concerned for others
    Please forgive us
    You made a difference,
for the time you were here,
you went beyond what could humanly be done,
    and did it,
    and you continued to reach,
and go beyond what anyone else could do,
    to help anyone in need.
    I'm glad you were here
    Please forgive us.....

    "Goodbye England's rose,
may you ever grow in our hearts.
You were the grace that placed itself
    where lives were torn apart.
You called out to our country,
and you whispered to those in pain.
    Now you belong to heaven,
and the stars spell out your name.
And it seems to me you lived your life
like a candle in the wind:
    never fading with the sunset
    when the rain set in.
And your footsteps will always fall here,
    along England's greenest hills;
your candle's burned out long before
    your legend ever will.
    Loveliness we've lost;
these empty days without your smile.
    This torch we'll always carry
    for our nation's golden child.
    And even though we try,
    the truth brings us to tears;
all our words cannot express the joy
you brought us through the years.
    Goodbye England's rose,
from a country lost without your soul,
who'll miss the wings of your compassion
    more than you'll ever know."
    Elton John/Bernie Taupin, 1997

    Goodbye British Rose
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
    While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
    When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
    But I never really did
Your candle burned out long before
    Your legend ever did
    Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
    The world created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
    Even when you died
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that of the price you had to pay
    Goodbye British Rose
    From a stranger far away
Who sees you as something as more
    More than just a *hear-say*
Elton John/Bernie Taupin (text slightly altered by me)

    The Candle
A light which brightened a cold dark world
    has been extinguished by greed.
    Ignited many years ago
No wind could blow it out
for it was meant to lead..
It gave refuge to so many souls.
    It kept the coldness out
It shone even in it's darkest time
for it knew what it’s role was about.
It shone in times of bitter tears
and death and pain so great
but now replaced by it’s beautiful flame
is the flowers which line the gate
But then I know it’s flame still burns
    Eternal to the end
    A candle which cradled love,
    compassion and beauty
    The candle called DIANA
    my friend.

    The Lady of the Lake
    To walk the last mile
    To feel depth of grief
To hold a stranger in your arms
    As you both now weep
    It took just one woman.
To bring the world to peace
To watch her candle burn out
yet her memory shall never cease
So as my heart beats a grieving sound
    Oh Sweet Lady of Lake
Your heart and soul shall Always be around

    Queen of our Hearts
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Queen of our Hearts I see your soul
glittering in the million stars of heaven
where you stand under the Tree of Life
holding a red apple in your delicate hand
and giggling as your eyes gaze deep
into the Light at the Heart of our World.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Eyes glitter with stars and my heart swells
when our gold-haired Earth Goddess steps
from Love Chariot wearing a gown of gems
and the world watches when the Moon Girl
walks among pillars in Cathedral of Bells.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Golden Rose shine bright your sweet love
touching the hands of children who smile
gazing in your eyes round as this world
where you travel bringing hope and love
to small souls caught in the tangle of wars.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Angel of Mercy your fragile delicate soul
crushed in the crash of the speeding car
swirls upward spreading Wings of Desire
over this weeping world as millions mourn
under your protecting shadow of Love.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Goddess of Truth my heart beats quick
to hear your voice and see your eyes
    beaming bright my television screen
but dark this night of a cold Black Moon
I weep to hear your flame is quenched.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Princess of Laughter your gentle hands
caress the cheeks of lost little souls
huddling in hospitals and missing limbs
and you cradle each child to your heart
till hope glows again in big round eyes.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Ambassador from the Goddess of Birth
your arms comfort a million babies
    starving in fly-infested African deserts
    abandoned in barbwire-tangled Bosnia
    wounded in dirty Cambodian hospitals
    neglected in cold Chinese orphanhomes
    forgotten in freezing NewYork alleys
and they all weep as you fade in mist.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Shy young school teacher you rise
on eagle wings to embrace the world
whose million eyes watch your face
and see a Goddess incarnate in your smile
then sing with joy that the Holy Mother
keeps watch over the children of Earth.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Angel of Mercy who flies among stars
you touch the hands of a billion souls
around this world gazing in our
eyes to see One Soul looking back at its Face
for we feel our hearts beat as one Wave
weeping for each Soul who ever died.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Career Woman poised to change fear
to love when your smile melts grim hate
to fervid love that springs alive lost souls
whose hearts glow to remember your Face
I feel your warm hand touch each soul
weaving our Dreams with silent eyes.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Seeker of Justice your stern glare
shakes dictators in their stomping boots
who slink away and hide in shadows
when sunlight beams from your Face
in the gleam of a million camera Eyes
as you bring the Messengers of News
to uncover cruel enslavement of souls
for your hands give Freedom to All.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Woman with Heart your courage inspires
my bones with strength to seek the Truth
flashing alive my soul with Spirit of Love
that your Compassion live on in my Acts
protecting all creatures from cruel hate
my hands strong with the Love you beam.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen s
leeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Golden Rose how sweet your soulflame
scents the Spirit of our weeping world
as your blossom lies crushed to death
torn apart by the speed of your high life
soaring you swift across our Dream Sky
flaming brief and bright as a starstreak
that lights up our lives with your Joy.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Queen of my Heart I dreamed your eyes
shining bright for years lighting my path
but your blossom is crushed by fools
careless of that precious treasure You
but your soul is a Venus-painted vase
shattered on the floor of my aching heart.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.
Princess of my World your Light shines
beyond your death illuminating my path
for I pray remembering forever your Love.
Weep O children of Earth for our Queen
sleeps forever in the Hall of Mirrors.

Her face is like the mineral Jade,
    It's beauty shall never fade.
Her eyes twinkle like the stars,
Which can be seen from afar.
Her cheeks are like cups of cream,
Which you'll only find in a dream.
Her voice is softer than a summer breeze,
Which puts my mind at ease.
Her hair is of a golden color,
These are but a few of the reasons,
    That I love her...

    In Time
rising up from this small bed
    I reach high
    but not high enough
    to reach her arm
mothers hair blows softly in the wind
    and I rock
I see her cry with her favorite novel
the one with the worn edge
    and watermarked pages
its the one with the happy ending
the one that dreams are made of
    but destiny destroyed
mother once said time healed all
    wounds
In time my wounds will heal too

     A Long Day's Life
When I was young I would sit by the sea
And ambition's sirens would sing to me
Songs of a future both nobel and grand

Now here I stand with my back to the wall
Errant in some ways and tired in all
Life is what happens while you're making plans
At the end of a long day's life
Oh no I'm lost and all alone
Battered and broken and scarred to the bone
Oh Love you've never been a friend
But if you're still listening I'm here at the end
    Of a long day's life
Love came to my house and knocked on the door
I answered and said "what are you here for?
Go away cause I'm busy looking for truth"
At the end of a long day's life
Oh no I'm lost and all alone
Battered and broken and scarred to the bone
Oh Love you've never been a friend
But if you're still listening I'm here at the end
    Of a long day's life
I'm looking for a new Love to show me the way
To laugh at tomorrow and live today
To guide me through these strange and uncertain times
At the end of a long day's life
Oh no I'm lost and all alone
Battered and broken and scarred to the bone
Oh Love you've never been a friend
But if you're still listening I'm here at the end
Help me I've lost my way again
Wandering blindly I wait at the end
    Of a long day's life...

    Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

    Without Her
What of her glass without her? The blank grey
There where the pool is blind of the moon's face.
Her dress without her? The tossed empty space
Of cloud-rack whence the moon has passed away.
Her paths without her? Day's appointed sway
Usurped by desolate night. Her pillowed place
Without her? Tears, ah me! for love's good grace,
And cold forgetfulness of night or day.
What of the heart without her? Nay, poor heart,
Of thee what word remains ere speech be still?
A wayfarer by barren ways and chill,
Steep ways and weary, without her thou art,
Where the long cloud, the long wood's counterpart,
Sheds doubled darkness up the labouring hill.
    Dante Gabriel Rossetti

    "Diana"
    I'm sitting here at the T.V. set, my jaw is hanging low;
I was out celebrating a wedding, how was I to know?
That at 10:00 that evening, the world would experience the loss,
Of a woman whose path only the lucky, were rarely allowed to cross.
    The one whose life was public, the one we learned to adore;
We felt a kinship to her, and were always eager to learn more.
    Some were more eager than others, they would do anything, like spies;
To capture a royal indiscretion with their probing camera eyes.
    Usually they were successful, we saw her face on countless screens;
Tabloid papers, the news, books, and magazines.
But on this night ,she, or one of her friends, decided the time was right,
To lose the paparazzi, and then their Mercedes Sedan took flight.
    Through a tunnel in Paris, the foursome's vehicle sped;
But instead of reaching the Eiffel Tower, all but one is dead.
    As the world now knows, it was not Di who survived the fatal wreck;
At age 36 she is already through with life's unpredictable trek.
    But she trod it well, and we all respected her beauty, poise, and grace;
We will never forget her acts of charity, her love for her sons, her face.
    The word spread throughout the world, quickly, overnight;
The world was awakened to an empty space that will take long to feel quite right.
    She leaves behind her two loving sons, one of whom will be king;
But more than that, she leaves a world who will miss the magic, a true princess can bring.
    Danielle Boes

Smile of a thousand red roses,
Eyes as blue as the serene sea,
She touched every heart and every soul,
A Goddess as compassionate as could be.
She was truly a Queen of our Hearts,
So many have felt her generosity,
    None will forget her magnificence,
For all will remember her elegant beauty.
But the People's Princess shall grace us no more,
An innocent victim of our selfish greed,
A dear blossom trampled in a flurry of haste,
And our dear Princess' soul was finally freed.
While all the nations mourn this unfortunate tale,
This fairy tale which ended in tragedy,
Let her sweet memory live on into oblivion,
For in our sorrow, we will love her for eternity...

    Let us all speak softly.
    Let us all be kind.
    Let us all be gentle.
    Let us all be true.
Each one of us, wherever we are, knows what we should do.
We can all finish what she started.
It will take us all to make this world the place it should be.
    LOVE THY NEIGHBOR
It's a very old request-from you know who.
    Diana showed us how.
We can best honor her memory
    by doing it too.

    In Memory of a Princess

    We watched you from afar
A shy young girl of twenty
Walk down the aisle to your Prince
Every little girl's fairy tale dream come true.

Your life was far from perfect
Even though we all dreamed it would be
We watched you break out of your shell
And take a stand for what you believed in.
    You were kind and compassionate
With a wonderful heart made of gold
Your work on earth is done now
    But will never be forgotten.
May we reach deep within our own hearts
    And continue in your footsteps
To love and help all humanity
    Our special Angel from above.

    "Diana"
    your crown never fit.
    the corner of your eye
as it shed the final tear
    knew this.
    you were born the queen.

    "Mrs. All Nations Universal"
Do not cry if you Love me.
If you only knew God's Powers and how beautiful Heaven is.
If you could hear the Angels sing and see me among them.
If you could see before your eyes the Horizons and Eternal Songs, the new
    roads I walk on.
If, for a moment, you could enjoy like I do the beauty in front of which all
    beauties weaken.
Why! You have seen me, you have loved me in the land of the shadows and you
could neither see me nor Love me again in the Land of the countless realities?
Believe me, when death will come to break your links as it has broken the ones
that chained me and when one day, that God knows and has determined, your Soul
will come to Heaven where my Soul has preceded yours, That day, you will meet
again with the one who Loved you and still Loves you, you will come upon her
heart again, you will re encounter the utter tenderness.
Dry your tears and do not cry if you love me.

    A Princess Forever
"What is my mission?" We ask in our prayers.
We struggle through life as though caught in God's snare.
We long to be lifted to ecstasy's place.
We long to be granted Divine Love, Peace and Grace.
The meaning of life is the answer we seek.
The search is unyielding, the answer looks bleak.
We search to the limits of this Earth where we live.
We cease to look inward, we forget to give.
    A few times a life-time we're given a gift,
A Soul who has found the way to uplift.
She shows by example, the mission is clear,
"Love the unloved ones, and love without fear."
The world is a sadder and lonelier place,
'Cause heaven is now filled with your Grace.
Your time here on Earth was not very long,
Your inner light shone brightly, beautifully and strong.
Princess Diana, I hope you received,
A portion of love from the people who grieve.
They grieve for a woman who showed them the way,
"Be kind to your neighbors, and love them today."
Dear Princess you live with the Angels above.
You surely must now feel the most perfect Love.
I know you won't leave us, your spirit is near.
We'll never forget you. You are greatly revered
    Kathie Quisenberry

    Memoir: Princess Diana
    A world found speechless
    A country full of grief
    An event so shocking
    Everyone is in disbelief
    The princess to the world
    We hear is deceased
Brutally killed in a car accident
Maybe now she has found peace
Trying to live a normal life
Where it did not often exist
At nineteen, privacy was a luxury
    Since reporters could not resist
Using her fame for good Helping
    a world in despair
    She posessed wonderful charm
That we find so very rare
    She touched many people
    And was a beloved icon
    She will never be forgotten
And will never be totally gone

    To The Way Things Were
To the way things were, I make a toast,
The way you laughed, I cherish most.
    The smile on your face,
    As you took your place,
    Will brighten my memories always.
To the way things were, I sing,
The way you'd talk about anything.
    The sounds of your voice,
    Made you my choice,
From my heart you will never leave.
To the way things were, I remember,
The way you left us sad and somber.
    No more jokes to tell,
    Or wishes in the well,
I will not forget the days.
To the way thing were, I cry,
    About your death I sigh.
    Remembering your face,
You hold in my heart a special place,
    I will remember you always.

    Mood of a Nation
    how do I feel inside
    having created spaces so wide
    no bridges to cover
    the oceanwide sorrow
    engulfing my soul
    leaving me anything but whole...
    not able to cope
with the loss of the presence
    already turned history
    and sincerely wondering
what next is to be ...
a death so violent, so needless
    the passing of a princess
the passing of a loving mother
there will never never be another
a special daughter to a grieving mother
    who is suffering in silence
the kindness of a caring sister
oh god, my heart is breaking
    i will miss her...
the passing of a dearest friend
the offering of her helping hand
the dream of another man's love
who has preceded her to heavens above
    a nation choking in tears
trying to calm their inner fears
in the wake of an unknown dawn
    rising gently across the horizon
    a nation is grieving
having lost their most precious gem
    she was one with
    and one of them

    One Less Light...
There is one less light in the world,
one less star in the sky.
    One less Mothers goodnight kiss,
    one less Lover's cry.
One less compassionate heart to share,
to reach out, to love, and to mend.
One less royal cross to bear,
    and one less beloved friend.
One less "role model" for our troubled youth,
one less prayer for the dying.
One less lap for Children to sit,
and one less shoulder for crying.
There is one less uplifting smile to behold,
and one less message of hope.
    One less Princess to photograph,

On the Death of a Cultural Icon: August 31st, 1997
The sun set in Paris early this morning.
Once wrapped in sunlight, now cloaked in mourning,
To shine only in memory, perhaps more brightly than in reality,
Your semblance preserved, but evermore silent as the grave.
Your benevolent light once seemed eternal,
But shone so briefly and flickered out so quickly,
Enveloped by the shrieking of night and the whispering of metal.
We shall weep for the assassination of beauty.
But is it more tragic for beauty or position?
No, only more revealing, symbolic even.
You serve in death as you had in life; your light chains our minds,
And illuminates the dark shadows we didn't want to see.
    The beautiful light.
    So lonely, but never alone.
    So radiant, but never happy.
So serene, but never at peace.
    Where are you now?
    Are you alone?
    Are you happy?
    Are you finally at peace?
    Traci M. Poli

    So many things have happened
    Since you were called away,
So many things to share with you
Had you been left to stay.
Every day in some small way
    Memories of you come my way;
    Though you're gone, I feel you're near,
    Greatly missed, loved, forever dear.

    To HRH Princess Diana
The clouds are bright white as the sun shines,
Yet there are grey clouds and rain in our hearts.
There is a deep sadness amongst us all.
You were a ray of sunlight where ever you appeared.
Your beauty, compassion, love, honesty, and strength shone on the darkest of lives.
    Who will do that now?
Who will continue what has been left unfinished?
It's so painful to think someone so wonderful has been taken away from us.
There is a void in our lives.
We took it for granted that you'd always be here.
    Now we look to see what you have left behind;
Two beautiful seeds from your life.
May they grow strong, determined, and as compassionate as you were.
To make the difference as you were,
To make the difference as you did, my queen.
For you weren't just a queen of our hearts,
But the people and the world.
May you find love and peace amongst the stars.
    Forever yours.
(A beautiful poem written by a mourner and placed outside Kensington Palace)

    AN ODE TO PRINCESS DIANA
D id you not brighten up our darkest nights
With compassionate flame; only to be snatched
From us since. Savouring your warmth and light
No more, tears overflowed, hearts wretched!
I n our souls, whispers a peaceful silent wind
Igniting the flares of your admirable spirit.
We feel you, within us; for which we sing
A song, of your benevolent kind deeds.
A distant you are at, but you are also near
    For your legacy of love, lives within us;
To touch our lives, banishing our despair and fear.
Regretfully, our insatiable greed is your curse.
    N ever knew how wrong are we, how severely selfish;
Your hurting we see not, but your privacy
Granted we gleefully took, blatant disregard unleashed.
We beg for forgiveness, which we ask so undeservingly.
    A lthough we are incensed with ourselves, our shame reeling;
So tragic are we, the product of our own misdemeanor,
We are unworthy of your priceless gleam, your tender loving...
Hush, hush, may you rest in peace, our princess, beloved dear
    YONG WOON CHING

The Royal Reign of the Queen of Hearts
    They watch my every move
Counting the blinks of my eye.
Shuttering views climb the highest wall
    Plastering each facial book
    With a fashioned hungry look.
    Willingly I take the stage
    Shielding the two I love
    From the camera's greedy rage.
Price tags hang from my toe
    And tunneled courage.
    Always hearing or feeling
    My tears on the ceiling.
    Take my bannered flag!
    Touch the sick and poor
    Found everywhere,
    Holding every hand...
    Love is yours to bare.

    Sweet Heart
She was that one of a kind.
She was sent by someone who knew.
Who asked her to loose so much,
when her existing conditions were hopeless?
    Are we forgetting,
    all that was written.
    With love in the heart,
you can have answers to everything.
    Having a Sweet Heart,
    is forever good.
    Hannu Kuusela

To Those I love And Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You musn't tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear
And then, when you must come this way alone
I'll greet you with a smile and "Welcome Home"

The world has lost it's smile today.
I was watching a movie on NBC when the news of the terrible accident first came on.
I was hoping and praying then that the Princess would be alright.
After about 90 min the reporter said that Lady Diana died.
I was in shock..I could not believe it
Still today..I think it is just a bad dream.
I admired you Princess Diana..not for your money & fame...
For your courage to stand up for what you believed in
For your hours and hours of charity work
For being a LADY at ALL times
For being a Woman who's endless Grace charmed the whole world.
I will miss you Lady Diana..Princess of Wales.
You will always be in my thoughts and prayers
    May you rest in peace
You are among your own kind now...
    you are among ANGELS!!
My thoughts and prayers will also be with your Family
Especially with your two sons, William and Harry
They have to grow up without the warm love of their mother
Without your laugh, without your guiding hand
But I know they will keep you in their hearts forever
and cherish all the loving and everlasting memories
and everything you teached them about the world
May your Son..the future King keep your Ideas alive
and show the world that Lady Diana NEVER died!
    GOOD BYE Diana!
    Minnie

    Sleep now, our gentle warrior,
    You have earned eternal rest.
Though your light shined much too briefly,
By your love we all were blest.
You brightened the lives of many
    With your gentle, caring way~~
You touched the hearts of all the world,
And we mourn your loss today.
Our world will now be darker,
And our hearts are filled with pain,
But there's one more star in Heaven
    To illumine God's domain.
    So sleep, our gentle warrior,
    Soothed by angel lullabies.
    Your love will beat forever
Although death has closed your eyes.

    Just like marilyn monroe
    they wouldnt leave her alone
    no matter what
    they had a bone
so they thought and continued on
    till they killed her
    with their own greed
    didnt matter that
    she was human too
    she was a figurehead
    and important so
    they hounded her
    and made her run
    and now she is lost
    the only life she had
    only because of the greed
    of the press
    wanting to please people
    with the most horrible mess
    someone who wished
    to be left alone
    no longer alive
    only memories survive
    So young and fragile
    only a girl of ninteen
    the most beutiful
    most had ever seen
A country asked for you to be the future Queen
married the King with love everywhere
when you Married the whole world was there
all seemed so clear from your royal thrown
yet somehow you were all alone......
    You bore him two sons
stealing your love on the run
made the most of absurd situations
you...the Peoples Princess of your nation
    Charles chased you away
with another he wanted to play
traded your beauty for a horse face girl
guess she really gave him a royal whirl
    pushed and pushed
    further away you drifted
    he never even noticed
    that you were so gifted
    The worl loved you
as if you were their own
the world was your ultimate home......
When the Circus came to town
    The future King wanted out
you couldn't win this onesided bout
    pushed away from your home
your royal heart so very alone
seemed there was no place to go
but your love for your sons
gave you the strength you needed
    never to be defeated
    held your ground
    through every round
    you were going the distance
    your boys and the country
    defeated you would never be
    yet not the Queen either
    kept your title and name
the world love you the same....
    The divorce came through
    The "King" done with you
    strength and grace
was written all over your face
    a mother and a giver
    The "King" a pathetic taker
    travelled the world
    spreading good will
    but the press could never
    get their greedy fill
    hounding and barking
    like rancid junk yard dogs
nothing but a pit of human hogs
    you ran
    but could never hide
from your fears so deep down inside
the "King" went on his merry way
leaving you all the emotional bills to pay.....
    Looking for love
    the treasure so elusive
The press and media oh so abusive
    maybe you found something
    the world will never know
    on august 30th 1997
    the final chapter was written
    being chased by the hounds
    through the street of Paris
    no one knew
    you were soon to parish
    a news flash, a crash
    and you are gone
only your sons to carry on
    the press had their way
    cameras clicking away
as you lie there alone in your death throws
vulture and jackels every single one
their cameras killed you just like a gun
the world now weeps for our Princess so fair
but the paparazzi they don't care
    the funeral is next
a feeding frenzy it will be
heartless beast please let her be
farewell good journey from here to.....
god bless our lost Princess Diana indeed

    You are gone,
    but you'll always be remembered
    You stood strong and proud
    and never surrendered
You touched the lives of so many, rich and poor
Your caring ways will be remembered for ever more
You were the Princess everyone felt they knew
Since you've been gone our lives are a darker blue
Only the Lord knows why you were taken so young
And I'm sure his work for you isn't quite done
    Rebecca Farrell

    The land awoke this morning
    A lessor place for sure
For it lost it's fairy Princess
And the pain it must endure
    No more the beaming beacon
Her smile of joy to see
Only memories of days gone by
And a future not to be
They'll lay the Princess down to sleep
In the land that was her home
And her spirit once again will live
In the land she calls her own
    Pat Reagan

Diana, you saw life from both sides,
From everyday life to nobility's tides.
You were elegant, dignified, and smooth,
Always a lady of love and truth.
You had the best of both lives,
    Which can never be denied,
But you stood proud and tall,
While others would stumble and fall.
    Your spirit could not be tamed;
For this, you were so greatly famed.
You sought truth and beauty in this life,
Rather than splendor and hustle's strife.
The love which only a mother had,
You had for your two young lads.
The nobility seemed to be dismayed
When love and affection, you displayed.
You tried to do what was best
For your children, through this test.
A private life, you were denied,
By those who were eager to despise.
    Why must there always be
    An end to life's serenity?
    Your life was taken away
    Long before your appointed day.
In our hearts, you will always be
A symbol of peace, love, and beauty.
Our tears and grief will freely flow
For our Princess Di we've come to know.
Good bye, England's Rose. We hope and pray,
As your spirit travels across the fray,
That you will find beauty and peace
In Creator's Land, the clamor to cease.

It's difficult to explain how I felt deep inside
When I heard the news that you had died
Death has always been so difficult for me to understand
Each time someone dies, an answer from God I always demand
I may not have known you but I know you had a loving heart
There are so many lives in which you played a special part
Now your dead I know you have gone to a better place
We will not cry - we will celebrate your final days
Because you found happiness just before you died
Happiness that for most of your life you had been denied
Death has taken you to a place much better than this
You have finally found eternal peace

    A Provoking Thought: Lady Di
She surely was a lady, every gesture, every glance,
But silenced in her prime of life, she barely had a chance,
A chance to teach us all about the way to show concern
To those less fortunate than us; a chance for us to learn
That money and position, fairy tale romances, too
Can't make up for a lasting love, can't always bring you through.
A waste...and more, a pity, and the senseless tragedy
Was for her a life of running from the cruel papparazzi.
Now sons without a mother have been left to bear the pain,
A "once-upon-a-time" prince left to think....and think again....
If he'd lived up to his legend, would she still so brightly shine??
How much guilt is on his shoulders for the newspaper headline?
    A waste...and more, a pity; now come sorrows and regrets;
What WE merit in this life is often what another gets.
The end result of cheating wreaks its havoc everywhere,
And those without a choice are given pain and grief to bear.
Be faithful then and honor all the vows that you have made,
And in the silent midnight you won't have to be afraid.
Your conscience won't disturb you, your devotion will insure
That your sleep will be unruffled, and your home will be secure.
    Diane Haynes

"When all goodbyes are said and done,
When night time weaves its spell,
When memories past still linger on,
My heart is still, I think of you.
When God's light wing of Dawn draws nigh,
When the morn is cloaked with gold,
When words of love are faintly heard,
    My spirit rests, remembering you.
When the moon is full, with the sky aglow,
    When the Star of Love
Rides the Wings of a Dove,
    When the Song of Victory
    Drowns the Cry of Defeat,
    My heart is still,
    I think of you.
    When the Light of Love
    Shines far above,
    When the soul is free,
    REMEMBER ME.
    Jennifer Walker

    "Do not grieve for me
Where I go the days skip gently by.
Did you not see the look of peace upon my face?
    Have you not wondered why?
Where I go, there is no sun or snow
Nothing old or new I go to sleep a little while
    And wait for you."
    Jen Walker and Fran Robitaille

    Winsome youth, and majestic grace
A touch of Love, in a barren place.
    Eye of compassion, seldom seen
Now kept alive, by a dreamer's dream.
No more the smile shall we embrace
Robbed from us by an early grave.
Righteous heir born to the thrown
Yes Queen of Hearts, son of your bone.
Under Sky of blue, on field of green
The pipers call; to end the dream.
    William T. Spencer

Perhaps her death may be a blessing in disguise,
for at last she is safe from those prying eyes.

For Prince William and Prince Harry: A Mother's Prayer--
As if her spirit had been led
That night, she knelt beside their bed,
And kissing both her sleeping sons
    With tears, she softly said:
"Watch over them dear Lord; I know
The hour's come, that I must go
     To sleep. Good night my darling ones;
    Your mother loves you so."
    Steven Douglas De Lacy

    Diana's Garden
Leave not your weeping as it were
    But a rose that fades and dies;
But sow a smile to remember her
In the garden where she lies.
    Steven Douglas De Lacy

In memoriam to Princess Diana, an inspiration to me.
"If you could see the ugliest leper with the eyes of love,
His beauty would out-dazzle in your eyes the starlit sea.
If one drop of the Wine of Vision could rinse your eyes,
Wherever you looked, you would weep with wonder."
    Harvetta Asamoah Al-Namour

She caught our hearts with her smile-
    She captured the world awhile.
Now sorely missed is her presence
    She who was lifelessly pursued.
    One day she was wed,
Her triumphs & losses we saw.
    Another she was gone
& to which no one shall again allude...
Pursued by those who would look
& sell her every moment in a book
    of scandal sheets & gossip.
Why, o why is she gone?
Have comfort for she now rests in God's hands
away from prying eyes & unruly men.
Love is the greatest gift one can give.
God rest her soul for she was the embodiment of love.

You Will Always Be Her Royal Highness To Millions
    'Your Royal Highness, Princess Di'
    Your title was taken away - so unfair;
To someone so gentle and with ways of care.
    You are and always will remain;
The Queen of our Hearts, by no other name.
    All too soon your candle light was snuffed out;
But your love for the oppressed; there was no doubt.
Your leaving brought pain and much sorrow.
So we say, "Rest in Peace" now, and bid you farewell,
    till it be morrow!!!
    Chris Christmas O'Steen

    You Are The Light
There's a ship, out to sea,
And it's looking for a signal or a sign,
That will help it through the night.
    Then it sees, a light,
A beacon from the lighthouse and it knows,
That everything will be allright ...You are that light.
There's a plane, in the clouds,
And the people are just trying to go home,
But they're scared, cause it's raining.
And the pilot, calls the tower,
Cause he's nervous, they may not get home,
Then he sees the runway lights ... You are those lights.
    Chorus:
You brought hope to the world of the hopeless,
You brought joy with the flash of your smile,
You brought love to those who felt unwanted,
And you did it all with style.
You cut the brush, beat the path,
built the road, and paved the highway.
You showed us a better way to live.
You plowed the earth, planted the seeds,
watered the plants, and grew the garden.
You taught us how to give ...
    You are the light.
There's a man, down the hall,
Who's suffering, and dying all alone,
    Because people don't understand.
And to help him through the day,
    He sits by his window,
The sunlight seems to make it go away ... You are that light.
    Chorus ...
Now the world, which we live in,
    Is mourning your passing,
You left us far too soon.
But your smile, and your laughter,
    Will live on inside us,
Your candle will allways burn bright ... You are the light.
    Chorus ...
    Derek Randell
