On 16 June 1559 he married his cousin Anna von Nassau-Dillenburg and by her became the father of fourteen children. With his younger brother Philipp, he divided his family's lands on 7 December 1574, by which division Albrecht came into possession of Ottweiler, Hohenburg, 
Kirchheim, Lahr and Mahlberg. In 1576 he closed the convent in Neumuenster.
