Sophia von Winzenburg

In 1123 he became Count von Ballenstedt and is now regarded as the founder of the House of Ascania which ruled in Brandenburg for two hundred years. For military service in Italy he was invested by the Emperor with lands between the Elbe and the Oder. In 1140 a treaty with Count Pribislav assured Albrecht's possession of Brandenburg.
