On 21 July 1616 in Florence, she was born as daughter of Cosimo II,
Grand Duke of Tuscany, and Archduchess Magdalena of Austria. It was her
aunt, Claudia, Regent of Tirol, who arranged Anna's marriage to the son
of that aunt, Archduke Karl of Austria, and they became the
parents of three daughters. The eldest of these three daughters married
Emperor Leopold I. Anna not only survived her husband by fourteen years
but also outlived her daughters. On 11 September 1676 in Vienna, she died
aged sixty.
