Daughter of the Carlist pretender to the Spanish throne, Don Carlos, Duque de Madrid, and Princess Margherita de Bourbon-Parma, on 24 October 1889 in Castle Frohsdorf she married Archduke Leopold Salvator of Austria, Prince of Tuscany, and they became the parents of ten 
children. In the First World War she was a Red Cross nurse as well as 'Protektorin des Landes- und Frauenhilfsvereins' in Graz. Due to her husband's war related inventions they had become very rich. In 1918 she moved with her family to Spain. From 1931 onwards, when her husband died, she also lived some of the time in Vienna.
