Dirk IV, Count of Holland, (-1049)

Dirk IV, elder son of Dirk III, was sometimes called Markgraaf of Vlaardingen.
He conquered the area containing the islands of South Holland but became
involved in a conflict with the Emperor Heinrich III in which he fell in
battle. His younger brother, Floris I, became his successor.
