In January 1431 Margaret, Duchess of Clarence, together with Joan, Duchess of York and others, presented a petition in Parliament complaining that Eleanor called herself daughter and heir of Edmund, Earl of Kent, and denying that Constance was ever wife of Edmund. To disprove her bastardy, Eleanor had quietly brought action in the Court Christian of which the complainants were not being informed. However, no record has been found in regards to the outcome of either action.
