Scroop Egerton, 4th Earl & 1st Duke of Bridgwater, son of
John Egerton, 3rd Earl of Bridgwater and Lady Jane Paulet
Born 11 August 1681
Died 11 January 1745

She was about fifteen years old when, in February 1703, she married the Earl of Bridgwater but her happiness was overshadowed later in the same month when her only brother, the Marquess of Blandford, died of smallpox aged only seventeen. Elizabeth became the mother of a son and daughter but then also died of smallpox on 22 March 1714, aged twenty-six, and was buried at Little Gaddesden. In 1720 her husband became a Duke and, two years after that, married Lady Rachael Russell, daughter of the Duke of Bedford.
