Count Ferenc Nadasdy de Nadasd   (1545-1604)

Erzsebet Bathori
Died 21 August 1614 Csejte

He became the most feared general of his time, called by the Turks  "Fekete Beg" of the Black Prince. The troops under his command inflicted many humiliating defeats on the Turks, who were never able to capture de fortresses he and his soldiers defended. With the help of his fellow commander and friend, Miklos Palffy, he recaptured from the Turks such key Hungarian strongholds as Esztergom, Vac, Visegrad, Szekesfehervar and Gyor. He received a knighthood for his military achievements. As a result of his marriage, to Erzsebet Bathori, he became one of Hungary's richest men, which caused envy and created political enemies.
