According to the Duc de Luynes she was shy and lacking in confidence
but had beautiful eyes. She was almost seventeen years old when, on
29
February 1740, she married Louis Antoine de Gontaut-Biron, Duc de
Biron. Her husband was a distinguished soldier and his funeral she
regarded as the most important ceremony of its kind before the
collapse of the old order in France. Francoise Pauline de La
Rochefoucauld, Duchesse de Biron, was guillotined on the 9th Messidor,
Second Year of the revolution in 1793, with Messidor running from the
20th June to the 19th July. She was guillotined at the same time as
her niece, Amelie de Boufflers, Duchesse de Lauzun.
