He was born about 1520. In 1543 the Turks began their seizure of the
defensive line of Transdanubian castle-forts. Gyoergy was forced to abandon
the castle and village of Szapar soon after, in the face of an imminent
Turkish assault. By 1552 Szapar was in ruins, the village and castle deserted.
About 1550 he married Anna Asszonyfalvay, only child of the wealthy
nobleman Johann and his wife Barbara Banky. When the family seat of Szapar
was destroyed by the Turks, Gyoergy and his wife established themselves
at Asszonyfa, the former seat of her family, in the county of Gyoer.
