            He was the 24th Chief of the Moncreiffes since 1248, as well as
        Her Majesty's Albany Herald of Arms and world-famous as a heraldist
        and genealogical historian.
            He was President of the Association of Genealogists and Record
        Agents; Vice-President of the Scottisch Genealogy Society,
        Vice-President of the 1745 Association and the National Military
        History Society; Patron of the Museum of Scottish Tartans; Fellow of
        the Society of Genealogists; Fellow Emeritus of the American Society
        of Genealogists; a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries both of London
        and Scotland; a Member of the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs and
        of the Court of the Lord Lyon King of Arms; and also a Member of the
        Queen's Body Guard for Scotland; as well as Deputy Lieutenant for
        Perthshire and Honorary Sheriff of Perth and Angus and a former
        Chairman of Debrett.
