Lady Penelope Barry, daughter of James Barry, 4th Earl of
Barrymore and Lady Elizabeth Savage
In 1742 he was a Colonel of the 34th regiment of foot, in 1745 at the
battle of Fontenoy, and afterwards served in Scotland. He greatly distinguished
himself at the battle of Falkirk on 17 January 1746. Eventually he attained
the rank of major-general.
