Graf Joseph Radetzky von Radetz (1766-1858)
Fieldmarshall
Born 1766
Died 1858 Milano
Married Graefin Franziska von Strassoldo

In 1788 and 1789 he fought against Turks as well as in nearly all the
wars between the Austrians and the French. Commander-in-Chief in
Lobardy from 1831, in 1848 Field-marshal Radetzky was driven out of
Milan by the insurgents, but held Verona and Mantua for the Habsburgs.
Defeated at Goito, he won a victory at Custozza, and re-entered Milan.
In March 1849 he almost destroyed the Sardinian army at Novara, forced
Venice to surrender, and till 1857 again ruled the Lombardo-Venetian
territories with an iron hand. He died at Milan.
