Born in 1692; she married William Drummond, 4th Viscount Strathallan,
in 1712 and they became the parents of four sons. Her husband was actively
involved in the Jacobite uprising in 1715. Because of her own support of
Prince Charles Edward, from 11 February 1746 until 22
November 1746 she was imprisoned in Edinburgh Castle. While in prison,
her husband was killed in the cause of the same prince. As his widow she
survived another twenty-seven years.
