On 20 June 1812 in the Cathedral of Cagliari, Sardinia, after a special
dispensation had been received from the Pope, she married her uncle, Archduke
Francesco of Austria. They became the parents of four children and, on
14 July 1814, her husband became Francesco IV, Duke
of Modena.
When her uncle, Carlo Emanuele of Savoie, died her father succeeded
as King of Sardinia but also to his position as Jacobite heir to
the thrones of England and Scotland. When her father died, on
10 January 1824, Maria Beatrice was recognised as the Jacobite heir.
On 15 September 1840, Maria Beatrice died of a heart condition at
the villa of Cattaio and was buried in the Church of San Vincenzo in Modena.
