Even though Harry Cust was in love with her and wanted to marry, in 1893 he was forced to marry Nina Welby-Gregory. As a result Nina Cust was ostracized by the Souls, a group to which Harry Cust and Pamela Wyndham belonged.
Pamela's greatest gift was for lively literary expression and, apart from her letters being very entertaining, she published a number of books. In 1895 she married Edward Tennant; they led a consciously simple life till 1920 when Edward Tennant, 1st Baron Glenconner, died.
Two years later she married her late husband's great friend, Sir Edward Grey, 1st Viscount Grey of Falloden, who had already lived with them for some years.
