Born in 1504, he married firstly in 1523 to Elisabeth von Sayn and
        produced two sons and two daughters who all died in infancy. Elisabeth 
        died in 1531 and in 1536 he married Anna von Mansfeld and they too 
        produced two sons and two daughters with all four growing up and 
        marrying. When Anna died in 1537, he married again in 1541 to Amalia 
        von Isenburg-Birnstein but this marriage remained childless. Philipp 
        III eventually converted to the Protestant religion.
