She was a girl from Piedmont and was raped by Henri II, the resulting child proved Henri II to be able to father children and was almost the cause of Henri II divorcing his wife Catherine de Medici. But Diane de Poitiers not only persuaded Henri II to sleep with his wife to provide royal heirs she also took in this baby and brought it up. This created the rumour that she in fact was the real mother. Philippe Duc, however entered a convent and became a nun.
