A member of an aristocratic family, her grandmother almost married a
Prince of Wales (Edward VII). Her grandfather was Earl of Dudley and her
sister a future Duchess, she chose a very different kind of life for herself.
First she became a model and then a very successful actress. She made
an impact with her small screen debut opposite Richard Chamberlain in the
TV mini-series "The Thorn Birds." She also
delivered several outstanding performances on the large screen, notably
in Burt Reynolds' "Sharky's Machine," Bruce Robinson's "How to Get Ahead
in Advertising", and James Foley's "After Dark, My Sweet". Other film credits
include "The Ascent", "Christopher Columbus: The Discovery", "The Wide
Sargasso Sea", "The Good Wife", "Hotel Colonial", "Against All Odds" and
"Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid". On Television, Rachel Ward has had a variety
of roles including in "Double Jeopardy", "Fortress", "Black Magic" and
"And the Sea Will Tell". On stage she performed in "A Doll's House" and
"Hopping to Byzantium".
She married Australian actor Bryan Brown and they are the parents of
two girls
