Aged about five he succeeded his father and became 9th Earl of Barrymore.
He was educated at Westminster School and at Eton and apparently also at
Oxford. In October 1767 he became a captain in the 9th Regiment of Dragoons,
while earlier that year he had married Lady Amelia Stanhope and by her
became the father of four children. On 1 August 1773 he died of fever,
aged twenty-seven. His widow survived him to die in France in 1780.
