Educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge, from 1884 till 1886 he was Rector of Conington; from 1886 till 1896 Vicar of Bolney, Sussex; from 1896 till 1934 Vicar of Mitford, Northumberland. He was also an archaeologist and author of 'The MacLeods of Dunvegan', and
'The Island Clans During Six Centuries'.
