Born in 1669, he inherited the Baronetcy in October 1681. In February
1687 he married Nichola Sophia Hamilton. Being a zealous Protestant, he
commanded a Regiment of Foot against King James II, and by this King's
Parliament of 1689 was consequently attainted. In 1695 he became M.P. for
Londonderry and died 16 June 1701. In 1704 his widow married Lieutenant-General
Richard Gorges and died on 23 February 1713, on her forty-seventh birthday.
