Title: Genealogie delle famiglie nobili di
Genova
Author: Natale Battilana
Published: 1825-1833 Genova
reprint 1972 Bologna

Online Review: Genealogical charts of a dozen genovese families,

Spinola, may take quite some time as for that family there are 148 charts.
Title: Genealogies des branches regnantes des
Rurikides du XIIIe

Author: N de Baumgarten
Published: 1934, 1962 reprint
Publisher: Rome, Orientalia Christiana XXXV-I
Rating: B+
Online Review: Together with his other work, also mentioned
in this list, these works together form the standard and are the most valuable
references on the Rurikides. Even though some of the particulars may have
been corrected by later research, there is nothing like these two books,
not even in Russia. All genealogical tables have detailed notes and sources,
indispensible for early Russian genealogy and history. Much of it can be
found in Europaische Stammtafeln, Volume II, by Schwennicke.

Title: La Maison de Craon 1050-1480 -2 volumes-
Author: Arthur Bertrand de Broussillon
Published: 1893, Paris
Rating: A
Online Review: An excellent and well documented book on an important
French family. It is a model of completeness. The author not only cites
medieval
cartularies, he also includes the relevant parts in his appendix. Cartularies
are charters usually preserved at monasteries and recording donations of
the devoted. They are packed with genealogical data and are essential for
doing medieval research.

Authors: Ronny O Bodine and Brother Thomas W. Spalding Jr.
Published: 1999, third preliminary edition
Rating: B
Online Review: Detailed ancestor list of Dorothea Poyntz, born
and died in England but an ancestor of many Americans. Many of her ancestors
belong to the better classes; nobility and royalty can be found amongst
them. The many brief biographical notes are a great bonus. However, it
is a work in progress
and we should look forward to the fourth and further editions.

the nobility and the impact of the Catholic Church's changing rules. Consanguinity
often becomes
a critical issue when trying to untangle possible relationships among
the medieval people.

Author: S. Otto Brenner
Published: 1978
Publisher: Personalhistorisk Institut & Dansk Historisk
Haandbogsforlag
ISBN: 87-85207-20-9
Rating: C
Online Review: Displaying sixteen generations of descendants,
the details are easily accessible. There is a key which explains the meanings
of abbreviations in several languages, including English. This is volume
one, but a second volume has not been produced. It covers a great
deal of medieval genealogy and his descendants have spread over most, if
not all, of Europe. However, one of the problems with this book is that
uncertain connections are somtimes simply included without any indication
of doubt. But, if interested in medieval genealogy, this is still a book
that should be consulted

Title: Histoire de La Georgie depuis l'Antiquite
jusq'au XIXe siecle

Online Review: French translation of the corpus of Georgian chronicles
by a respected scholar. There are more recent translations and editions,
and earlier versions of some of the chronicles. Most writers on caucasian
genealogies, including Toumanoff, seem to respect Brosset. Some of the
genealogical tables you won't find anywhere else.

manuscripts
reprinted to back the genealogies. There are some contentious assertions
but the logic behind them is hard to beat.
