Title: Histoire genealogique et chronologique
de la maison royale de France
several volumes
Author: Pol Louis Potier de Courcy
Published: 1868-1879 Paris
Publisher: 4th edition 1968, Editions du Palais Royal, Paris
valuation: A
Online Review: This worthy effort to update, correct and annotate
Pere Anselme was never completed. Potier did an excellent job on the volumes
he was able to finish. There is a great coverage of members of the Order
of the Holy Spirit.
Title: The Lion in the North - A personal view
of Scotland's history
Author: John Prebble
Published: 1971 London
Publisher:
ISBN: 436-38608-9
valuation: B
Online Review: Prebble's research is impeccable, but his writing
is for the general reader, so the story matters more than the genealogical
details.
Title: Krolewska Krew - in Polish -
Author: Rafal Prinke, Andrzej Sikorski
Published: 1997, Poznan
Publisher:
ISBN: 83-7150-254-0
valuation: C+
Online Review: Very good, language is the only problem but much
of this book makes much of Poland's early aristocracy accessible. Hope
this will be translated. The part with ancestors of Duke Wenceslaus etc.
is just a compilation with some
questionable links. Also, there are no sources quoted, only a bibliography.
Title: Genealogisches Handbuch erloschener
Boehmischer Herrenstandsfamilien
Author: Freiherr Roman von Prochazka
Published: 1973 Neustadt an der Aisch
Publisher:
valuation: C
Online Review: Arms, bibliography, partial genealogies and ancestor-tables
of extinct Bohemian families. There are some nasty errors, and frequent
inconsistencies.
