MacLeod means 'Son of Leod',
derived from an old Norse name Liotr apparently meaning 'ugly'. The previous
head of this clan, Flora MacLeod, stated that her "dear clan family" (there
are 20,000 MacLeods in the United States alone) "is beyond and outside
