George Friedrich Seckel was born August 24, 1682 at Schwabisch Hall, Germany, the son of Hans Georg and his second wife Anna Marie who died during his birth. He was a butcher, married twice and the father of nineteen children. His first wife was Rosine Juliane (Heid). They were the parents of twelve children - Georg Friedrich., born 1707. Johann David., born 1710. Johann Wilhilm., born 1712. Georg David., born 1714. Susanne Margarete., born 1716. Anna Marie., born 1718. Johann Michael., born 1720. Susanne Katharine., born 1722. Johann
Peter., born 1723. Johann Adam., born 1724. Twins Johann Adam and Johann George., born 1725. Rosine died in 1725. He then married Marie Magdalene Buhl on February 20, 1726. They were the parents of seven children - Johann Peter., born 1727. Maria Magdalene., born 1728. Johann George., born 1730. Anna Maria., born 1733. Susanna Barbara., born 1735. Maria Rosina., born 1742. Friedrich Carl., born 1746. Six of his children, Johann David, George David, Johann Michael Johann Wilhelm, Susanna Maria and Susanna Catharina, all immigrated to America. George Friedrich, the father, died November 15, 1757 when he fetched lambs from Garlenkerchen, on the steps of his house he was
felled by lightening.
