Rudolf's great-great-great-great-grandfather was George Friedrich Seckel (1707-1768), oldest child of the large XIth generation. The direct male line includes Johann David (1749-1823), David Karl (1788- 1861), Georg David (1815-1883), Karl Dietrich (1848-1898) and finally his father, Hans Seckel (1886-1955) of the XVth generation. His mother was Helene Johanna Rosa (1892-1907), and his wife is Auguste C.E. Groszewski (1924- ).

Rudolf was born the 6th of March 1922 in Breslau, Poland since 1945, east of Germany. His father was a farmer with a large estate. He has an eight (8) year older sister, Irmgard, now living in Hamburg. Her first husband, Dr. Wolfgang Strauss, died. He was a lawyer. Rudolf's brother, Klaus, the father of Gisela (28 April 1940) was killed in World War II on the Russian Front. He was 29 years old at his death in 1943. His wife and widow died in 1983, so the only survivor is
Gisela with her two children. She is now working as a teacher.

Rudolf ended school in 1939, began studying engineering sciences, but was called for military duties in autumn 1939. He was in the war for six years and became a tank commander. It is a wonder that he survived In 1945 he was captured by the British and held for only 24 hours because he saved the life of two Canadian Captains in the last days of the war. Their airplane was shot down and the inhabitants of the village wanted to murder them. This good deed of Rudolf was a new begining, because in the normal cause he would have been imprisoned for a much longer time.

At the age of 23 he had survived the war, but had lost all his possessions. He met Auguste Groszewski and married her on the 22nd of June 1946. He worked for the next four (4) years in the hospital of his wife's relatives. In 1950, Otto Groszewski, Mrs. Seckel's father, was released from Russian captivity and got a job in the administration because he was employed there before the war. He arranged for Rudolf to work there as well. He specialized in education in the legal or jurisdical fields. Beginning at the bottom and managed by hard work to become a high-school teacher, a job he has held for some twenty years.

Additionally, he learned and practiced from 1954 to 1962 and again from 1969 to 1972 - for being in the practical, as well as scientific life. He is still doing his job today with a full calendar. Beside his job, he is head of the members of
the board for a company that builds and rents houses in Frankfurt. This company has about 2000 apartments

Rudolf's parents came to Western Germany in 1946, it was the 22nd of June and Rudolf and Auguste were married this very day. They lived in Westfalen and in the beginning they had little money. Comparing their wealth before the war - and for one hundred years in the family - were really very poor, but they did not lament. Rudolf and Auguste were proud and content with all they got ... a foundation of their view of life. Rudolf's father, Hans, died in April 1955 and his mother, Helene in March 1970 in a "hotel" for seniors.

Rudolf and Auguste are blessed with an only daughter, Carola Seckel, born 10 May 1951, who now live in Frankfurt, West Germany.
